Mature Students
NUI Maynooth welcomes mature applicants and encourages their pursuit of study at the University. It appreciates that many people might have left school early, or not achieved their full potential in education due to financial, social or family circumstances. Over the intervening years your situation may have changed and the opportunity to return to study now presents itself. The University believes that the particular contribution of mature students to the academic and social environment of the University is a valuable and beneficial asset.
Up to 400 new mature students a year come to Maynooth to do a degree. Typically, they describe their experience here as academically tough but hugely enjoyable and rewarding.
There is no such thing as a typical student and you will find yourself studying alongside people of all ages and backgrounds. So, whether you are here to enhance your employability or to immerse yourself in the pleasure of learning, make the most of your time as a student: meet new people, expand your skills, build your confidence and above all enjoy your studies.
Please take a moment to read the Welcome Note from Emer Sheerin, Mature Student Officer at NUI Maynooth.
